Martin for Elected Mayor of North Tyneside
Martin Collins has launched his campaign to be elected Mayor of North Tyneside and published a ‘manifesto for the Green Transition in North Tyneside'.
Martin says:
"Why am I standing as a Green Party candidate for Elected Mayor of North Tyneside?
Because I want a Borough which is environmentally, economically and politically a good place for people to live in.
"I want a society which meets people's needs while protecting and enhancing the local environment for future generations, and helping us as a community to move away from our dependency upon oil, reduce carbon emissions and adapt to the impact of global warming.
"What will this society be like?
There will be more homes which are made out of sustainable materials and insulated to reduce energy use and cost.
There will be schools which are part of the local community to which children and young people can walk or cycle safe from traffic
There will be local shops (including post offices), leisure and social activities, health and other services all within walking or short bus ride distance
There will be cheap and frequent public transport so people don't have to use cars
"Active citizens will be involved in shaping their communities.
There will be more ‘green' jobs and businesses which contribute to an environmentally and economically viable future and other more sustainable ways of living."
If you share this vision of what North Tyneside could be like - vote for Martin Collins on June 4th.
