"The Green Party would like to see real investment in green jobs, such as the renewable energy industry and home insulation. These are jobs which will boost the economy during the credit crunch as well as having a long-term impact on carbon emissions.
"VAT cuts do help put money in people's pockets, but cutting fuel bills with better home insulation is a better way of saving money.
"It's impossible for the country to return to the way things were before the recession. This is an opportunity to do something different.
"I don't think an increase in fuel tax would be welcomed. The Government made the increases as a demonstration of their commitment to lowering emissions but people have become cynical about it, because the money isn't being spent on improvements.
"It also hits the poorest families hardest. We would like to see carbon rationing. The government needs to invest more money in greener public transport, like Barack Obama is doing in America."
