New Green Party on North Tyneside

Shiremoor saw the inaugural meeting of the North Tyneside Green Party on Thursday 26th. June. There was an unexpectedly high turn-out at the meeting and they were able to agree a constitution for the party and elect its two required officers in Martin Collins as co-ordinator and Penny Remfry as Treasurer.

It was also decided that the party's initial campaign project, to run over the summer, would be on affordable, sustainable, insulated (ASI) housing. The campaign aims to show how the Green Party's radical approach to the subject is the only way forward in these times of difficulty induced by the bankrupt attitudes of the Grey Parties who hang on to power.

"We hope to show people in North Tyneside that they will need to start thinking and acting in a new way." said the Party's new co-ordinator and perspective candidate for Elected Mayor, Martin Collins. "It will be a Green way that will take both North Tyneside and eventually the world into a new era of sustainable peace and a different prosperity."

"So far this year we have made a good start in the local elections," Penny Remfry, the new Treasurer remarked, "Now we have the hard part of gathering people into the party and raising some money to carry on the fight. We will be happy to hear from anyone interested in working with the new party, and we certainly wouldn't say no to a few ethically sustainable donations."

The meeting was closed with a thank you to Shirley Ford, one of the North East England Green Party's three European Parliamentary candidates, for addressing the meeting with her inspiring encouragement. The next meeting will be at 7:30 on the 14th. July and anyone is welcome to join in. Contact Martin Collins mob 0779 009 6826 for details.
